The North Dakota Board of Nursing administers the Nursing Education Scholarship (NES) Program, established by NDCC 43-12.1-08. (2)(g), regulated under NDAC 54-04.2-01 and supported by nurse licensure renewal fees. The goal of the NES Program is to promote interest in nursing and provide scholarships to North Dakota residents attending an approved prelicensure or accredited graduate nursing program, or nurse refresher course that meets board requirements. The NES Program was created to provide assistance to North Dakota residents, including licensed nurses pursuing further nursing education, and prelicensure nursing students who have already completed part of a nursing program.

Trinity Health Foundation continues to address the projected shortage of nurses across the United States through its Nursing Scholarship Program. The goal of the scholarship program is to build a vibrant and talented pool of nurses who will provide the best care possible and improve the health and wellness of our region.

The Organization for Associate Degree Nursing Foundation provides annual scholarships to students in Associate Degree nursing programs.

The purpose of this scholarship is to identify, cultivate and advance the next generation of health care leaders in North Dakota. Applicants will develop an innovative and impactful project in the area of health care which incorporates a leadership development plan designed to support a successful project outcome, as well as academic and personal growth. The scholarship winner will receive a total of $5,000 to offset their school tuition costs.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Caring Foundation is investing in health profession education by offering a scholarship program to help address and strengthen the healthcare workforce shortage and provide financial assistance to these aspiring students.

The Stanley and Julie Buxa Nursing Scholarship was established with a gift from the estate of Julie Buxa from Harvey. This permanently endowed scholarship supports North Dakotans pursuing a nursing education. Julie was born and raised in Harvey. She earned a nursing degree from the University of North Dakota and worked as a nurse for Trinity Medical Center in Minot and later at St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey. Julie also served as a nursing instructor in Minot and Harvey. As a permanently endowed fund, this scholarship will honor Julie’s commitment to nursing education forever. 1 $300.00 scholarship awarded.

It can be used for undergraduate and graduate classes. If you are a North Dakota resident, it may be used for approved in-state and out-of-state schools. If you are an out-of-state resident attending a North Dakota school, you do not pay an origination fee and may choose a fixed or variable interest rate.
